My awesome husband turns 40 today on June 20th, 2011.  It seems like just yesterday when he was the 27-year-old grinning boy I met in front of the jukebox at Malarky’s Irish Pub.  He had the cutest smile I had ever seen.  His grin lights up the room. For me it was love at first sight.

Today he turns 40 and has been a husband for almost 10 years and a father for 5.  And the best one I could EVER ask for. I am one lucky girl. Sometimes I wonder how I got quite so lucky.

I think 4-0 is a BIG DEAL.  So I wanted to do something extra special for him today on this milestone date.

We had friends over for a birthday celebration this past Saturday night, so he thinks that Saturday was THE big hoorah. And it was. But there’s more!  And he has NO IDEA. I have never done a surprise like this, but it has been so much fun!

And now I will see if he actually reads my blog every day because this post is how I wanted to tell him what we are doing.

He thinks he’s going to work today. But he’s not. I didn’t think he should go to work on his 40th birthday. So I emailed his boss a couple months back to ask if she could grant him two vacation days and help me with this surprise.

So, instead of going to work today, this is where we will be sitting this afternoon, cocktail in hand, toasting his 40 amazing years on this earth…

AND I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are heading out shortly to stay for ONE incredible night at the beautiful Montage Laguna Beach {SQUEAL!} and I am beside myself with excitement.

I have been to the glorious Spa for the day there before, but have never stayed at night at this resort.  I can’t want to fully experience every detail of this property.

The grandparents are staying with the girls so we get a night away just the two of us to relax and celebrate!

Happy, happy, happy 40th birthday to my husband, best friend and partner. The most genuine, kind, devoted, selfless man I have ever met. I love you to infinity!
