I am sort of a party fanatic. I love parties. I love themes. And I love reading about what other moms do with their party themes! This darling idea for a Star Wars birthday party was sent to me by one very creative mama. Here is how she created an event to remember. The force MUST have been with her…
Star Wars 1st Birthday Party submitted by Christine Thomas
We all love to throw parties but especially on a reasonable budget, right? Take a look at a few of these ideas to help inspire you while planning your next big event!
Cake made by Cinderella Cakes
Paper straws, fruit cups and popcorn bags purchased fromSweet Lulu
Star Wars T-Shirt fromOld Navy
Helium Tank rented from The Original Balloon Shoppe
Cupcake and sugar cookie supplies purchased from William’s Sonoma
Bulk Candy purchased from Oh Nuts
Favor Bag Stickers printed at Cotsco Photo
Centerpiece Ribbon Ball Topiary Tutorial found here(EASY)
Picture Frames purchased atIKEA for $.99
Fruit Snacks, Food/Drinks, & Ribbon purchased from Costco
I handmade the sugar cookies with the cutter purchased at William’s Sonoma.
Balloons were purchased in bulk and blown up myself.
I used a paper cutter to cut out the squares for the birthday sign. I found a scrap book store to cut out the white letters. Many will let you do that for free if you purchase something from them, if not it is only a few dollars to use their cutters.
I used one of Luke’s bibs as a pattern and just sewed a pocket on one side, then put right sides of the fabric together. I used his foam bath letters to trace his name and ironed them onto some backing before sewing them on.
His hat was an extra sheet of sparkle paper rolled up and stapled in place while hot gluing some trim to the end and ribbon at the top (super easy.)
I raised his cake on a wrapped empty cardboard box on top of some extra fabric.
Pretzels and Jumbo marshmellows were dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with some sprinkles I had laying around.
Trader Joe’s kettle corn filled the popcorn bags and all food was labeled with a card.
Favor Bags included glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces. I bought a big thing of sidewalk chalk in bulk then bundled 3 pieces together with some ribbon for each bag. I found some water balls in packs of 3 in the dollar bin at Target. Also included were a bag of fruit snacks and a small clear bag full of cheerios. I bought a package with 20 individual bubbles and put 1 in each bag.
The actual bags were purchased at Target by the brown lunch sacks. Yes the have colored ones now about $1.50 for 50 sacks!!!
The key here is buy packages of things that come with multiples then split them up.
Keep an eye out early on and you can find some great things to include in your goodie bags. I personalized each sack with a photo sticker from Costco Photo. You get a sheet with 20 stickers for $2.99.
My goal was to have yummy food for the adults as well as the kids.
I made a pasta salad from the food network. (I used Giada’s recipe she made for her daughter’s first birthday.)
PB&J’s, fresh fruit and little snacks were served in individual cups for the kids to take. Baby food was provided for the little ones there as well.
My little man wore a $10 T-Shirt from Old Navy.
So handsome!
Cupcakes were homemade then placed in star wars liners and topped with an action figure. Kit purchased here.
The Tables had a Ribbon Topiary Centerpiece.
I placed them in a silver bucket that was a couple dollars at IKEA.
I found this stuffed Yoda at Target of all the places. Check the children’s bedding section.
I took these $.99 double sided frames from IKEA, and placed 2 pictures from each month of Luke’s life 1-12 and had them line the eating tables.
Turned out to be quite a hit.
The invitations I put together in Photoshop I downloaded a background and a Star Wars font for free on the internet.
I then mounted them on blue and black sparkly paper and put them in a silver envelope. Get creative, and you too can make a custom invite!
Visit me at my blog here and leave me a comment with your email and I will email you a PDF of the party printables for FREE and you too can create your very own Star Wars Party for your little Jedi.
I would love to hear about your parties as well!
