The Elf on the Shelf: A Cute Holiday Tradition for Kids

I have heard about The Elf on the Shelf for the past few years, but it wasn’t until this past Saturday that our own Elf on the Shelf joined our family, and another cute holiday tradition for our kids was born.  So, please let me introduce you to Joy. Isn’t she cute?

How many of you used the phrase, “You better be careful how you are acting- Santa is watching!” before the calendar even turned to December? Um, that would be me.

Which is why I find Joy to be such a brilliant idea because her job is to act as Santa’s scout during the month of December and report back to him each night on how my girls are behaving these days.

Christmas Ornament Tradition for Kids

I have written about this Christmas ornament tradition for kids in past years but wanted to post again for any new readers because I love this tradition my mother started for me as a little girl.

Every year since I was born, I got one special Christmas ornament. When I was too small to chose, my mom chose them for me.  As I got older, I would get to pick out my yearly ornament and it would get written on our Christmas ornament sheet, documenting our selection and the year.

Whole Foods Market Newport Beach Grand Opening

Oh happy day! Whole Foods Market, the world’s leading natural and organic foods supermarket and first national certified organic grocer will be hosting the Grand Opening of Whole Foods Market Newport Beach in Fashion Island on Wednesday, September 19th, 2012 and you are invited to come and celebrate!

The Grand Opening celebration will take place from 9am – 10pm and include lots of fun events during the day, including a special “bread breaking ceremony” for the first 300 customers in line in the morning, who will receive a complimentary demi-baguette.  There will also be delicious food and wine tastings throughout the day, local vendor demonstrations and Happy Hour specials in the Back Bay Tavern.
