We took a Strawberry Tour last week at Tanaka Farms in Irvine. What a fun, different outing to experience with your kids!
The tour consists of a 1-hour wagon ride throughout the farm. They make different stops along the way where you can actually taste the fruits and veggies and learn about how they are grown. The last stop is the strawberry field, where you can pick (and eat!) your own strawberries right off the ripened vines. I have never tasted strawberries so yummy in my life! The kids just loved it. This is definitely a fun, family outing I would highly recommend.
Here are the details: Reservations are required if you go Monday – Friday. Times vary each day, running between 9:30am – 3:30pm. Cost is $13 per person, which includes a basket in which you get to fill with the strawberries you pick. Children 2 and under are free.
You do NOT need reservations if you go on Saturday or Sunday. Tour times are at 9:30am, 11am, 1pm and 2:30pm. Just arrive and check in at least 15 minutes prior to the tour time. Call for more information on group discounts.
Reservation line: 714.968.6588. Click here for map and directions. The Strawberry Tours run through June. They also have a great produce stand. Hours are in above link for directions. Have fun!
IMPORTANT NOTE: The two times I have been to Tanaka Farms, last week (Friday) and last October for the Pumpkin Patch, we have gone towards mid-day and it is hot, hot, hot out there! There is zero shade, so make sure to wear hats and slather on the sunscreen before you leave. Better yet, if it is a hot day, I would make the first reservation in the AM!
You still have time to enter Monday’s giveaway of 4 free tickets to Discovery Science Center! Check the post for details, and get your emails in before 5pm PST! Have a great weekend everyone!
We have been wanting to do this for a very long time. I can’t wait to visit!! Thanks for the info!!
I think your pumpkin Tanaka Farms post was the first one I read. Look how far the website has come! Makes me want to have some strawberries.
I just found your site. I live in the Southbay area, but the family is often in Orange County. I would love the free tickets.
