This past weekend at Castaways Park in Newport Beach, 1776 American Flags were on display in honor of all military, law enforcement, fire and first responder men and women.
It was hard to walk through it without getting a little emotional, especially given the event that transpired on May 1st, 2011.
It was a beautiful, touching display. Click here to visit the Field of Honor website.

Great post. Sometimes amid the family fun and barbeques I lose track of what Memorial Day is. So thanks for this great post and to all the men, women and their families for all they’ve given for us!
I was struck by the same feeling…how it is easy to get caught up in the “vacation day” feeling of BBQ’s and the start of the summer season and sometimes we forget what “Memorial Day” is really about. This was such a touching display. I plan to make it a yearly visit with my family.
